Not that it comes as any surprises, but Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t just projected to be drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves (number one overall). They’ve probably already told him he’s going to be.
A number of media outlets have been reporting it’s a ‘done deal’, with some mysterious source suggesting the Timberwolves haven’t left Towns wait for too long and are letting him know before draft night where he’s going.
Flip Saunders seemed to be leaning towards Jahlil Okafor for a minute, but most of the organization wanted Towns. The Kentucky center worked out for the Timberwolves and just them. That workout seemed to seal the deal.
Towns is denying any promise from the Timberwolves: If I had a promise I would go start eating ice cream and getting fat. There is absolutely no promise at all. Right now I’m just trying to see where I’ll be playing. I have no idea.
But… Flip Saunders is a great coach and a great guy. Glen Taylor is the same way. He’s a great human being. We just talked more about how do I feel about basketball and just about life, just trying to learn more about my personality. It would be a blessing and an honor to even have a chance to play for Minnesota and be able to have the chance to play for a great organization and learn from a great mentor like Kevin Garnett.
Jahlil Okafor? He won’t complain about going second, which means the Los Angeles Lakers.
