Over the last few days it’s been rumored that Barcelona are getting very close to sign Arda Turan off of Atletico Madrid. If the trending Twitter topic is to be believed, the Turkish midfielder’s transfer has been completed.
Turan, 28, has supposedly made the switch to the Spanish and European champions for €34 million which is under his €35 million release clause, but Atletico Madrid can gain a €7 million add-on based on appearances and other incentives. Why pay more? Maybe there was competition for the player and this sped up things for Barcelona.
Turan has been with Atletico Madrid since 2011, winning the 2014 La Liga title with them and the 2013 Copa Del Rey, playing in pretty much every possible role in the midfield. He has scored 22 goals in 178 matches for Los Colchoneros, adding 32 assists as well.
It’s also rumored that Atletico Madrid have failed another bid to sign Pedro. The two deals, none of them confirmed, could be related.
