It seems like every other day we have a ‘worst miss of the season’ candidate, but for the moment, the one by Ali Sami Yachir, who plays for MC Alger in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle, has to be the absolute most horrible we’ve seen this season.

Yachir didn’t have any pressure on him at the moment of the miss – he made the most of a slip by CR Belouizdad’s keeper in the box. Yachir was right near the ball, with no defender or anyone else to ruin his concentration or focus near him.

He drove towards the goal, and probably rushed his shot too much, as the ball took a bounce from some bump on the grass. Yachir didn’t hit the ball cleanly, and missed an completely open goal from less than 7 meters, in what has to be the most impossible chance for a player to miss from.

MC Alger did go on to win the match 2-0 no thanks to the forward, who actually spent the first six years of his career playing in France for Montpellier, Strasbourg and Reims before going back to Algeria and playing for USM El Harrach before joining his current club.
