In a day of garbage time matches and a little bit of playing for the top spot in Group C. Mexico and Venezuela ended their match in a draw, Uruguay got a win that didn’t really matter.
With Mexico finishing on top of the group, they’re likely to play either Chile or Panama, while Venezuela will have to face Argentina, who have already clinched their spot in the quarter final.
Mexico 1 Venezuela 1: Jose Velasquez put Venezuela in front after only 10 minutes, but Mexico looked a bit more dangerous the moment when Javier Hernandez took the field in the second half. He missed a couple of close chances, but Venezeula were worn down by the pressure and the usual tremendous support from the fan base, as it’s basically a home tournament for them. Jesus Corona scored the best goal of the tournament in the 80th minute with a wonderful dribble that ended with some quality finishing, sending a shot into the right corner of Daniel Hernandez, who made a couple of incredible saves earlier.
Uruguay 3 Jamaica 0: The win won’t erase the disappointment of not making it out of the group stage, as Abel Hernandez, Matías Corujo and a Je-Vaughn Watson own goal, and the chasm there seems to be between some of the key players on the side and head coach Oscar Tabarez. Jamaica finish the tournament with 0 points, not scoring a single goal and conceding six. Bolivia have a chance to avoid the 0 points fate, while Haiti failed to get a single point too. They did score a goal, but conceded 12, finishing last in their group.
