When you have to move back from AC Milan to the Brazilian league, it means something isn’t quite right with your career. Alexandre Pato hasn’t been exactly tearing it up for Corinthians this year, and added another incredible miss to his impressive collection, this time in a 1-1 draw with Goiás.
With Corinthians down 1-0, Pato was given an excellent chance after a brilliant through pass to him, early in the second half. He managed to get by the Goiás goalkeeper, but in front of an open net and a pretty comfortable angle, he managed to send the ball high into the sky.
Pato has yet to score in the start of the Campeonato Brasileiro, and hasn’t been really living up to the price (€15 million) Corinthians paid for him, so far scoring 7 goals in 24 matches in all competitions. Corinthians did win the Paulista, partially thanks to him, but people also remember a huge miss by Pato against Boca in the Copa Libertadores, probably even worse than the one he had in the league.
From one of the more promising young talents in Europe a few years ago, scoring 50 Serie A goals through his first four seasons with Milan, Pato is struggling to put his career back on the right track.
