Not all bone crunching and leg breaking tackles are on purpose, at least this one didn’t seem to be. In a Liga I match in Romania between Steaua Bucharest and Pandurii Targu Jiu, Florin Gardos (Steaua) slid into Cosmin Bacila’s legs, taking him down and getting the ball.
Although to me it seems like he isn’t looking to intentionally commit a foul, going for the ball actually, a closer look at Gardos’ left leg, which sweeps Bacila off his feet, might give you a different opinion. The referee needed only one look at the broken leg to send Gardos off. It’s hard to watch, and especially spot before the replay comes on. The replay leaves no room for any doubt about any chance of feigning injury.
