Diego Costa

The depressing season of both Arsenal & Liverpool just got a little bit better with narrow 1-0 wins over West Brom & Stoke. Chelsea dropped points with a draw in Sunderland for only the third time this season, while Manchester United won against Hull City with style to keep them firmly in the top 4.

West Brom 0  Arsenal 1: Another poor performance from Arsenal, that didn’t take away the pressure from Arsene Wenger to improve. Still, after a couple of Ben Foster saves, a late Danny Welbeck header helped stop the losing streak and bring them back to top 4 territory.

Burnley 1  Aston Villa 1: Joe Cole scored a goal in 38th minute on his first start for the Villains, but an 87th minute penalty kick by Danny Ings saved the home side one point, that didn’t help his team escape their relegation zone status.

Liverpool 1  Stoke City: Not a great performance from Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers refuses to change his tactics, but a win is a big thing for them especially after such a long time. A late run from Glen Johnson to surprise everyone off the rebound gave Anfield a rare moment of joy, although they’re still in the bottom half of the table.

Manchester United 3  Hull 0: An impressive performance from Manchester United and especially Robin van Persie after a poor season so far, scoring one goal and setting up another. Wayne Rooney and Chris Smalling also scored for a team that is solidifying its place among the top 4.

QPR 3  Leicester 2: QPR are not longer occupying the last place in the league, trading spots with Leicester City. Esteban Cambiasso opened the scoring for the visitors, but an own goal by Wes Morgan and a Leroy Fer own goal flipped things over. Jefferey Schlupp equalized in the 67th minute, but a winner from Charlie Austin gave QPR only their second win of the season.

Swansea 1  Crystal Palace 1: The Swans continue to drift away from their early season heights, taking a lead through Wilfred Bony but giving up a penalty kick 10 minutes later, converted by Mile Jedinak.

West Ham 1  Newcastle 0: Someone finally stops the incredible run Newcastle were on. Not a great match, with very few chances for both sides. Aaron Cresswell gave West Ham the win that puts them in top 5 with a 56th minute goal.

Sunderland 0  Chelsea 0:  For only the third time this season, Chelsea fail to win a match, which leaves Manchester City and maybe even Southampton some hope that the Blues can be caught or at least pressured down the road. Diego Costa should have been sent off twice during the match.
