Day 5 of the Olympic games brought us a new fastest swimmer in the world, as Nathan Adrian of the United States beat the favorite, James Magnussen of Australia by 0.01 seconds; the best Gymnast in the world winning his first Olympic gold medal, Kohei Uchimura; The host nation won its first and second gold medals, as Bradley Wiggins won the men’s road time trial. The focus in day 5 of the Olympic games will again be focused on the swimming pool and the 100 meters freestyle final, with Yannick Agnel, Nathan Adrian and James Magnussen all battling for the gold, while a lot of attention, with a local flare, will be shifted towards the men’s road time trial, with Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins trying to win the first gold for the host nation. Poland and Russia, as expected, gave us the more entertaining match in a not stop affair, clouded by the pre-match violence that ended in yet another 1-1 draw for the hosts, leaving Group A wide open. Earlier on day 5 of Euro 2012, the Czech Republic rebounded from their opening loss with a quick blitz to nearly put Greece out of the tournament with a 2-1 win. More
Back to Group A as Euro 2012 begins its second round of matches, as Russia, the team that produced the best performance out of all 16 teams, try and bring their counter attacking against the pumped up home side, Poland. Greece will try and take advantage of the low morale at the Czech Republic camp with their usual, not so pleasing to watch style. More
Rafael Nadal’s 2011 season on the ATP tour ended on a sour note, losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, eliminating him from the World Tour Finals. Roger Federer finished the group stage with a perfect record, beating win less Mardy Fish 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. More
