Dan Uggla’s Hitting Streak Reaches 30 (Braves vs Marlins)
Dan Uggla didn’t help his batting average or the rest of those numbers on another ugly hitting night. One for six, striking out twice, leaving 5 on base. Still, his hit in the fifth drew more cheers from the dugout than Martin Prado’s go ahead single in the 11th inning, giving the Braves (68-49) a 4-3 over the Florida Marlins, their second straight win against them before the series ends today.

Samuel Eto’o to Russia?!
Samuel Eto’o might be joining Anzhi Makhachkala of Russia. For how much you say? €20 Million a year. Making him the highest paid footballer in the world. Heck, besides Alex Rodriguez, he might be the highest paid athlete in the world in team sports. He’ll have famous company there, for example Roberto Carlos, who’s earning peanuts compared to what Eto’o has coming.

Mariano Rivera blew the save, which was probably the most amazing thing about this game, leaving Phil Hughes to complete the self destruct mode and complete the Boston comeback. At that point, four hours and 15 minutes since I started watching the game, I really didn’t care anymore.

Real Madrid vs 109 Chinese Kids
Real Madrid, wrapping up their Asian tour, played against 109(!!!) Chinese kids. Guangzhou children to be exact. Why 109, you ask? Because of the club’s 109 years of course. Real Madrid won, of course, like they did against the adults throughout their tour, but probably gave the children an experience they’ll always remember.

New Season, Old Habits (Manchester United vs Manchester City)
Nani. It all came down to Nani stealing the ball from Kompany, and giving United their usual Community Shield win (their fourth in five years). Manchester United were the better side, but found themselves behind 2-0, mostly due to David de Gea lack of concentration. It didn’t matter. Alex Ferguson has the better team, the better players. But a team, first of all. Something City still can’t claim they are. And United proved in a wonderful second half, with Nani scoring twice, that they are still the best in Manchester, and England.
