    Ashley Young scored only two goals this season, both in the same match, in what would become the historic 8-2 win over Arsenal. Months later, and another London opponent brought the best out of him, as Young scored twice in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Tottenham, keeping them two points behind the league leaders.

    Andre Villas-Boas was feeling it coming in the air last night, and there was no surprise that after his seventh league defeat of the season, a deserved 1-0 at the Midlands against West Brom, Roman Abramovich chose to terminate the contract and sack the Portuguese manager after less than 10 months at the helm.

    Bayern Munich struggled away from home, again, losing to Leverkusen 2-0. Meanwhile, Dortmund, who haven’t tasted league defeat since September, didn’t have it easy against Mainz, but came out with a 2-1 victory, their 7th consecutive victory as the open up a 7 point lead at the top of the German league.

    Roman Shirokov joined a long line of players who have missed incredibly easy goals this season. Not exactly as terrible like the Deivid miss from last week, but his header to the post while the entire goal was waiting for him to score in the match between Zenit and CSKA Moscow.

    The Utah Jazz ended the Miami Heat’s game winning streak with a dramatic 99-98 win, despite LeBron James having another huge game (35 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists), combining for 66 along with Dwyane Wade, and giving up on another chance to take the final and potentially winning shot.

  • Van Persie Doubles Up at Anfield (Liverpool vs Arsenal)

    Liverpool scored first, but failed to capitalize on their superiority all throughout the match. Arsenal didn’t attack much, but Robin Van Persie was there to do his usual fabulous finishing job, scoring twice, including a quality volley in injury time, to give Arsenal a 2-1 win over the Reds and be the first team to leave Anfield with 3 points.

  • Benfica vs Porto – The Game That Sent The Title North?

    Hulk opened the scoring, Oscar Cardozo’s brace gave Benfica the lead in the second half, but a red card and Porto’s superior side eventually got the two goals that might bring them the title for a sixth time in seven seasons, winning the O Classico 3-2 in dramatic fashion, taking sole lead of the Primeira Liga in Portugal.
