Marquez Beats Alvarado – The Path to Pacquiao
In order to get a shot at a Welterweight title, Juan Manuel Marquez needed to beat Mike Alvarado in an eliminator. He had no problem doing that despite getting knocked down late in the bout, coming away with a comfortable unanimous decision (119-109, 117-109, 117-109) that gave him the unimportant WBO international Welterweight belt but more importantly put him closer for a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather Beats Maidana – A Crack in the Armor
For the first time in a very long while, Floyd Mayweather looked vulnerable. Marcos Maidana was wild an missed quite a lot, but he made the undefeated pound-for-pound king sweat for his belt-unifying more than ever before, and even see one judge call it a draw, which immediately has people calling for a rematch and some even considering the Argentina getting robbed of victory.

Mayweather vs Maidana – A Lot of Money to be Made
Unless something very unexpected happens, 2014 is going to be another year in which Floyd Mayweather remains on top of the highest earners in sport, as the grossing from his next fight, facing WBA Welterweight champion Marcos Maidana, will be at least $32 million straight into his pocket before the “extra”: His share of the PPV buys and the in-house gate profits.

Klitschko Beats Leapai – Predictable, Easy & Boring
It couldn’t get any more one sided than the way Wladimir Klitschko manhandled Alex Leapai in brisk and efficient fifth round knockout to retain his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring Heavyweight title belts, once again showing his complete dominance over a decaying weigh class, which makes it hard to judge how good he really is on a historical level.

Hopkins Beats Shumenov – Age is Only a Number
Even though the scorecards told us of split decision, there was nothing close in the fight between Bernard Hopkins and Beibut Shumenov, as Hopkins unified the Light Heavyweight title in another dominant display, despite his advanced age of 49, which doesn’t seem to be slowing his appetite for the sport and titles down.

Pacquiao Beats Bradley – Justice is Served
It seems like Manny Pacquiao can move on in his boxing career after getting something straight: He’s a much better boxer than Timothy Bradley, and finally getting the right scorecards to show for it, as there was no mistake in their second fight, with a unanimous decision going his way, not to mention the usual impressive amount of money.
-
Pacquiao vs Bradley – Justice Needs to be Done
The previous fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley highlighted a big problem in boxing which is its officiating. It might not be corrupt, or at least not in that case, but it can be extremely awful, resulting in a decision win for Bradley, who knew very well he got beat badly in the fight but obviously wouldn’t admit it. Justice doesn’t mean a bad decision going in Pacquiao’s way, but simply the better fighter in the 12 rounds (or less) actually coming out with his hand on top.
-
Canelo vs Angulo – The Make Me Look Good Fight
After getting a boxing masterclass in his fight and first loss for stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweahter, Canelo Alvarez was back to dominating and looking excellent with a 10th round TKO victory over the slow and defenseless Alfredo Angulo, not looking like a close fight for even a second.

Mayweather vs Maidana – Not What the Fans Wanted
You can never expect boxers to be men of their words, and Floyd Mayweather is no different, possibly even being the prime example of it. In his own social media poll, Amir Khan was picked to be his next opponent. However, Mayweather went with a boxer Khan has already beaten in the past, Marcos Maidana.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao – It Might Still Happen
As Lloyd Christmas once said, there’s always a chance. The option of a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been on the table for years, but hasn’t materialized for plenty of reasons, most of them having to do with money. Even though the peak interest in the fight has gone and past, there’s always a window to make it happen.
