After week 4 in the 2016 college football season, there are still 27 undefeated teams: Six from the Big Ten, four from both the ACC and Pac-12, three from the American conference, Mountain West and SEC, and two in each of the Big 12 and the MAC.
In the Big Ten, there are three undefeated teams in the East division: Michigan (4-0), Ohio State (3-0) and Maryland (3-0). Both Ohio State and Maryland didn’t play in week 4, while Michigan beat Penn State 49-10 to win their first conference game of the season.
In the West division, Wisconsin (4-0), Nebraska (4-0) and Minnesota (3-0) are still without a loss. The Badgers beat Michigan State on the road 30-6, Nebraska won against Northwestern 24-13, and the Golden Gophers won against Colorado State, beating the Rams 31-24.
The undefeated ACC teams are Louisville (4-0), Clemson (4-0) and Wake Forest (4-0), all from the Atlantic division, while Miami (3-0) are the only Coastal division without a loss. The Cardinals crushed Marshall this weekend 59-28; Clemson beat Georgia Tech 26-7; and Wake won 33-28 at Indiana. Miami didn’t play.
The Pac-12 undefeated group consists of Stanford (3-0), Washington (4-0), Utah (4-0) and Arizona State (4-0). The Northern reps here are Stanford, beating UCLA 22-13, and the Huskies, winning at Arizona 35-28. Utah beat USC 31-27 and Arizona State won against California 51-41.
The SEC’s undefeated teams are Alabama (4-0), Texas A&M (4-0) and Tennessee (4-0). The Vols lead the East, winning 38-28 against Florida this weekend. Alabama shutout Kent State 48-0, while Texas A&M beat Arkansas 45-24 in an SEC West game.
American conference reps: Navy (3-0), Houston (4-0) and Memphis (3-0), kinda like last season. The Cougars beat Texas State 64-3 while Memphis rolled to a 77-3 win against Bowling Green. Navy didn’t play this weekend.
In the Mountain West, the remaining undefeated teams are Air Force, Boise State and San Diego State, all 3-0. The Falcons beat Utah State 27-20 this weekend, Boise won in Oregon State 38-24, while the Aztecs didn’t play.
Big 12 undefeated teams: Baylor (4-0) and West Virginia (3-0). The Bears beat Oklahoma State 35-24 in their first conference game of the season; West Virginia beat BYU 38-35.
MACtion teams: Western Michigan (4-0) and Toledo (3-0). The Broncos handed Georgia Southern their first loss of the season, winning 49-31. The Rockets didn’t play.
