When the New England Patriots lose, Tom Brady sulks on the sidelines and Bill Belichick looks like he wants to rip someone’s head off, you can be sure the memes are coming, mostly making fun of the Pats instead of praising the Chiefs.

And as good as the Chiefs were, with the credit going to their defense, a terrific Alex Smith and Andy Reid orchestrating everything from the side, the story is always the Patriots, especially when they fall apart like that, dropping a fourth quarter lead, something that only happens to them in Super Bowls against the New York Giants.

Brady completed less than 50% of his throws, and while he didn’t get intercepted, he wasn’t able to connect once for a touchdown. Not having Julian Edelman to target made things uncomfortable, especially later in the game, although we’ve seen Belichick work out these problems.

Three seasons ago, the Chiefs destroyed the Patriots at Arrowhead which ushered in talk about the end of the Brady and Patriots era of dominance. What happened next was the Pats winning a Super Bowl for the first time in 10 years, so as much as people want to celebrate a good team losing, it’s probably too soon to draw any conclusions.
