Dwight Howard called out his coach Stan Van Gundy for the team not pushing the basketball enough into the paint, into his hands. Dwight Howard got what he wanted, and finished with 23 points and 22 rebounds, leading the Magic to a 83-75 home win over the Boston Celtics and a game 7 in Boston.
Orlando continued to stink from long range, not that it stopped them from shooting. They shot 6 of 26 from long range, as the Lewis-Turkoglu-Redick foundation shot 1 for 11… The Magic won despite of that.
Rashard Lewis scored 20 points and Mikael Pietrus came off the bench to score 11, including two important tre’s. Turkoglu scored only 7 points but his only three pointer came late in the fourth to give Orlando a large enough lead to defend.
Boston who aren’t looking very good in these playoffs but somehow, just a bit more than 50% of the time find something or someone to give them the win didn’t have it tonight. Rajon Rondo lead the team with 19 points, 16(!!) rebounds and 6 assists while Paul Pierce scored 17 and Kendrick Perkins added 15, but that help wasn’t enough. Only 13 points from the depleted bench couldn’t give them the boost needed to get by Orlando, and the Celtics go for another Game 7. Will it end like against Chicago? I’m not too sure, especially if Orlando stop throwing those long range bombs and keep feeding Howard in the paint.
