2011 NFL Free Agency Signings So Far


With the lockout over, the free agency and trade talks in the NFL is going through the roof. With a shortĀ amountĀ of time to conduct the same amount of business the teams usually do each off season, be ready to hear of many changes, moves and shifts in the coming week or two as the GM’s are probably infused to aĀ caffeineĀ tap 24 hours a day. Here are the confirmed movers so far around the league.

Sidney Rice

Missing a big chunk of the 2010 season due to his injury, surgery and recovery didn’t reduce the interest on the 2009 Pro BowlĀ receiver. Rice, who has spent the last four years with the Vikings, signed Rice to a five year deal worth 44 million dollars. In 2010, playing only 6 games, he caught 17 passes for 2 TDs, averaging 16.5 yards per reception.

The Bills’ middle linebacker and one of the team captains made the switch down south to the Jacksonville Jaguars, signing with the Jags for six years worth 45 million dollars, 15 of themĀ guaranteed. He recorded 103 tackles and 2 sacks in 2010.

Quintin Mikkel

A two time All-Pro selection, Mikkel left the Eagles after 8 years in Philly, signing a four year deal with the St. Louis Rams. One of the NFC’s betterĀ Safeties, Mikkel has 8 interceptions during the last three years and recorded a career high 77 tackles last year.

Donte Stallworth – The 30 year oldĀ receiverĀ returned to action in 2010 after being suspended for the entire 2009 season. He broke his foot during the preseason but returned to play in 8 games. He managed only 2 receptions for the Ravens. The Washington Redskins took a chance on him, signing him on a one year contract.

Devin Aromashodu – Making his NFL debut in 2007, Aromashodu spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Bears, catching 4 touchdown passes, all in 2009. He stayed in the NFC North, signing a one year deal with the Vikings.

Tyler Thigpen – The backup quarterback spent 2010 with the Miami Dolphins, playing five games andĀ completingĀ 33 passes. He was signed by the Bills on a 3 year contract. He has a 21-17 TD-INT career record in 22 games and 12 starts, with a 54.2% completion record.

Bruce Gradkowski – Another backup QB who might get a chance to get some more playing time, signing with the Bengals on a two year deal. Gradkowski the last two years with the Raiders, playing 13 games and starting 8. He has a career record of 20-23 in the TD-INT and 53.2%Ā completionĀ ratio.

Robert Gallery – More Raiders leaving. Robert Gallery, aĀ transformedĀ into Left Guard, signed with the Seattle Seahawks on a three year deal after 7 years under the Al David dictatorship.

Takeo Spikes – The 13 year veteran Linebacker spent the last three seasons with the 49ers. For the first time in his career, he went through an entire season without recording a sack. A two time All-Pro selection (2003, 2004), Spikes (34), signed a three year deal with the Chargers, staying in California.
