Floyd Mayweather Scared of Amir Khan?

According to the IBF and WBA Light Welterweight champion, Amir Khan, Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t want to fight him so he can keep his perfect record (41-0) intact. Amir Khan, two months past his title fight with Zab Judah which ended a tad controversially (or even more according to Judah), is planning on Mayweather in case the fight everyone wants, Pacquiao vs Floyd, won’t happen.

Amir Khan is done with the 140 pounds division – It is about experience and timing and I think it is my time now. We want to jump there because we have cleaned up the 140lb division. We want to jump in there with the best and beat the best. Every young fighter has ambitions and I am really confident I have the style, speed and power to beat him. I also have the best team around me.

Khan has a fight scheduled on December 10, his final fight, according to him and his camp, in the Super Lightweight/Light Welterweight. Problem is, there’s no opponent to fight right now – December 10 will be my next fight but we don’t know who it will be against yet. We are looking at a few opponents but everyone we try to fight is pulling out. Timothy Bradley (WBO champion, 27-0-0-1) had the chance to fight me in an undisputed unification fight and he turned it down because he knew he was going to get beaten.

On Erik Morales (51-7) – Erik Morales told us on Friday that he doesn’t want to fight me. Maybe they are all afraid. There are only a few people we can pick now because I am the number one in this division.

Floyd Mayweather has business of his own to take care of – The Victor Ortiz fight in just under two weeks in Vegas. After that? Well, according the Mayweather Jr, it’s all up to Manny Pacquiao’s willingness to take the Olympic standard drug test. According to Mayweather, Pacquiao won’t do it.

Khan is waiting for that fight not to happen. The 24 year old seems intent on facing Mayweather next year. Being a training partner to the Pac-Man, he might have some inside information regarding the mega-fight.

Lets hope Khan’s sort of big mouth doesn’t get him humilihated the way David Haye did a few months ago, failing to live up to his pre match hype against Wladimir Klitschko. Khan, just through my gut feeling, is a realer deal than Haye is.
