The champions, the Green Bay Packers, were too good for Cam Newton’s one man offense, beating the Panthers in Carolina. Tom Brady won another quarterback duel, leading the Patriots over the Chargers. The Bills (!!), the Lions (!!), the Jets, Redskins and Texans all improved as well to 2-0.

 

Dallas Cowboys (1-1) 27  San Francisco (1-1) 49ers 24

The hottest rivalry match of the 1990’s ended in extra time. An injured Tony Romo threw for 345 yards and two TD as both Mario Austin and Jason Witten caught for over 100 yards. Dan Bailey scored the winning field goal for the Cowboys.

Oakland Raiders (1-1) 35  Buffalo Bills (2-0) 38

The Bills, yes, the Bills, are 2-0. Jason Campbell threw for 2 TD and 323 yards, with Denarius Moore catching one of them and 146 yards for the Raiders as the Bills came from an 18 point deficit to win the game.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) 3  Detroit Lions (2-0) 48

The Lions, yest, the Lions, are 2-0. Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes, two to Calvin Johnson as the Lions got the biggest win in Franchise history. The Chiefs? Time to panic.

Baltimore Ravens (1-1) 13  Tennessee Titans (1-1) 26

A huge day from the Titans’ defense and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (358 yards, 1 TD) stunned the overly confident Baltimore Ravens, a week after their Steelers demolition.

Cleveland Browns (1-1) 27  Indianapolis Colts (0-2) 19

The Browns got their first win over the Colts since 1994, as Indianapolis continue to look like a lost herd without its shepherd. When are you coming back, Peyton?!!!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) 24  Minnesota Vikings (0-2) 20

The Vikings had a 17-0 lead in the third quarter, but managed to blow this one as well. Donovan McNabb was a lot better than last week’s terrible debut, but the Vikings mostly relied on Adrian Peterson (120 yards, 2 TD). Not enough.

Chicago Bears (1-1) 13  New Orleans Saints (1-1) 30

Here comes the Cutler talk again. Jay Cutler threw 19-45 with one TD. Most QBs look bad next to Drew Brees who threw for 3 Touchdowns and 270 yards.

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) 3  New York Jets (2-0) 32

Defense, defense, defense. The Jags aren’t exactly as troublesome as the Cowboys, and Jets had no problem containing the AFC South visitors.

Seattle Seahawks (0-2) 0  Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) 24

Life is easier against the NFC West, as Pittsburgh found out, shutting out the very bad Seahawks, limiting them to only 164 yards on offense.

Arizona Cardinals (1-1) 21  Washington Redskins (2-0) 22

The Redskins were behind 21-13 in the fourth, but a Santana Moss touchdown and a late Graham Gano field goal kept the W in Washington. Larry Fitzgerald finished with a touchdown and 133 receiving yards.

Cam Newton did throw for over 400 yards again, but got picked three times. Meanwhile, Rodgers threw for two TD and 308 yards and the champions continue to look very good.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) 22  Denver Broncos (1-1) 24

Kyle Orton was solid with 2 TD passes and got a lot of help from Willis McGahee (101 yards, 1 TD) in the Broncos’ first win of the season. The Tebow fans can wait at least one more week.

Houston Texans (2-0) 23  Miami Dolphins (0-2) 13

Who would have known the Texans are the cream of the AFC South, now that Manning is out? The Dolphins didn’t make it easy, but the Schaub – Andre Johnson connection scored a touchdown in the fourth to put the game beyond doubt.

San Diego Chargers (1-1) 21  New England Patriots (2-0) 35

No a lot of defense, but Tom Brady and the Patriots survive another quarterback duel. Brady threw 3 TD passes and 423 yards, Rivers got picked twice. Rob Gronkowski caught 2 touchdown passes for the Pats, while Vincent Jackson had a huge 2 TD, 172 yard game.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) 31  Atlanta Falcons (1-1) 35

Michael Vick was good, not brilliant, in his return to Atlanta, but left the game injured as the Falcons mounted a fourth quarter comeback, coming back from 10 points down. Tony Gonzalez caught 2 TD passes and Michael Turner ran for 114 yards and a touchdown.
