Two words : Not fair. It wasn’t fair from the first moment the two teams took the field, and the score line of 5-0 in the favor of Spain proved that to be right.

Tagged as a “warm-up” for the FIFA 2010 World Cup next summer in South Africa, the Confederations Cup opened with the host nation drawing 0-0 with Iraq and Spain crushing New Zealand. Spain were 4-0 up after 24 minutes and added a fifth 3 minutes into the second half. New Zealand just looked desperate and helpless, even pathetic at times while the Spanish side looked simply brilliant in the beginning of the game.

Fernando Torres scored the first 3 goals, grabbing a hat trick in only 11 minutes. Cesc Fabergas added the fourth in the 24th minute and David Villa who’s deal from Valencia to Real Madrid seems to have been put on hold added the final nail in the “All Whites” coffin. Spain are now unbeaten in 33 matches and the Euro 2008 winners started their 2009 Summer season rather well.
