Bernard Hopkins isn’t giving up – not on the title he feels he was robbed of, not on his career, despite his injured left shoulder, despite turning 47 in three months, despite his controversial loss to Chad Dawson this Saturday, in the fight for the WBC and Ring Light Heavyweight belts.

Hopkins had a chance to watch the replays of the way Chad Dawson won in a second round TKO, not by punching, but by lifting Hopkins off his legs with his body. Suffering from a dislocated joint, this injury will probably keep Hopkins out of the ring for a long time.

That isn’t stopping Hopkins from speaking about the future of his career and his lost title belt – My career will not end, and has no reason to end, based on Saturday night. I felt like I was tackled by a football player. He threw me like a rag doll. I don’t want to sound like I’m whining. The bottom line is, the referee either doesn’t know the rules or dropped the ball.

Hopkins feels that these occurrences could be changed if there was use of instant replay, like in other sports – Boxing is so outdated. We’re living by the rules and technologies of the day of 1929. 1929! They do it in football and they make the right call.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said the result of the fight will be appealed to the California State Athletic Commission, and ask the WBC and Ring magazine to recognize, still, Bernard Hopkins, as the Light Heavyweight champion.
