It was just a matter of time – Ever since Glen Johnson was purchased by Liverpool from Portsmouth, Alvaro Arbeloa has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Arbeloa has really improved last season in Anfield, becoming a regular on the right side of the defence and being on of the best full backs in the league, showing his crossing and passing abilities in addition to his defending.
Arbeloa, 26, will be the seventh player to join Real Madrid this summer, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Albiol, Alvaro Negredo and Esteban Granero as the new guys at the Santiago Bernabeu. Although it’s been rumored that Real won’t add any more players before selling some and thinning their bolstered and expensive squad, Madrid haven’t sold anyone yet. Arbeloa will move for around 4-4.5 million Euros. Arbeloa played 66 league games for Liverpool since 2007, scoring 2 goals. He grew as a Real Madrid player but failed to find his place with the club during his first tenure.

Andrea Dossena, the Italian left back who joined Liverpool last summer from Italian club Udinese for 7 million pounds, is on his way back to Serie A, with Napoli as his new home. Dossena was disappointing in his debut season in the Premiership, losing Rafa Benitez’ faith in him early in the season and losing his place to Fabio Aurelio and Insua at times. Dossena’s transfer fee will be approximately 4-4.5 million pounds. Despite scoring twice as a substitute late in the season against Real Madrid and Manchester United, Dossena didn’t win back Benitez’ confidence. He played 16 league games for the reds, scoring 1 goal.
