Well, three games into the season in the Bundesliga, and Bayern Munich have 2 points. They and it’s not like they deserve more. Another bad performance for Van Gaal’s side, and this time it ended with a loss, Bayern’s first of the season. Mainz completely dominated the Bavarians in the first half, not allowing Bayern to shoot once at goal for almost 40 minutes. Only after Bayern were 2-0 down and Ivica Olic came in, things started to look better.

In the second half Bayern scored early, as Nikolce Noveski scored an own goal, making it 2-1. Bayern looked much better in the second half, but Heinz Muller at Mainz’s goal kept Mario Gomez and Ivica Olic goalless. Van Gaal has a lot of thinking and changes to do, cause it’s not just the results, it’s the way Bayern look. The Kolse-Gomez partnership isn’t working, and the midfield looks bad. Answers? Bayern have Wolfsburg next week, Van Gaal needs to find answers fast.

Andreas Ivanschitz, 25th minute
