Apparently it’s derby game around the world – In England it was Liverpool beating Manchester United 2-0, in Turkey it was Fenerbahce beating Galatasaray 3-1, and in Argentina it was the Superclasico, maybe the biggest match in the world, between River Plate and Boca Juniors, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Marcelo Gallardo scored a brilliant free kick to open the scoring for River, who are struggling in recent years in the league while Boca are usually winning/challenging for local and continental titles. Well, River couldn’t get the better of their rivals in this one, as Martin Palermo, Maradona’s saviour against Peru from two weeks ago, equalized in the second half. Typical to this derby, two got sent off, one on each side, fitting perfectly with the other big derbies today – two sent off in the Liverpool – Man U game and one sent off in the Turkish derby.
