What’s it like to be an NFL player, specifically a punter, in the 24 hours leading up to a game on Sunday? Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings, a punter in the NFL for the past seven seasons and change with the Minnesota Vikings, shared his rather humorist insight on the rather dull weekend leading up to a game.
Kluwe wrote for Minneapolis.org about how he passed the time before a big game, in a sort of diary way, which kind of makes you think that it’s not quite an exciting life, to be an NFL player, or at least a punter for the Minnesota Vikings.
Highlights of his day include –
Take part of a special teams meeting while not really paying attention unless his name is mentioned; Drinking Gatorade all day while trying to hold it in through team meetings; eat M&M’s on plane despite not wanting to; watch porn on TV at the hotel, take a “shower” later; more team meetings; occasionally punt while thinking of Russian invasion plans during the game.
Kluwe made a lot of headlines last year during the lockout, referring to a few top NFL players, including Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, calling them greedy douchebags, as it was rumored they were holding up the agreement between the players and the owners by special considerations for those players.
