The Best State in College Football

The Best State in College Football

How do you decide what state deserves the bragging rights of being the best in the nation of College Football? Different conferences and too short of a season can’t help us completely decide, but according to the records compiled by redditor MrTheSpork, it’s probably Oklahoma or Oregon.

Oregon have only two schools in the NCAA I-FBS; only the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers. Both are currently undefeated, combining for a 13-0 record. The only state with 100%, no matter the amount of schools in the state. In states with only two teams, South Carolina follow with the Gamecocks (6-2) and Clemson (5-1) and Arizona are third with the Wildcats (4-3) and Arizona State (5-2).

Of the schools with at least three teams, Oklahoma are the best with an overall success rate of 80% until now. The Sooners are 5-1, Oklahoma State 4-2 and Tulsa are 7-1. Ohio, who have 8 schools competing, impressively follow with 71.2%. Only one of those teams, Akron, have a below .500 record, going 1-7 so far. Ohio State in the Big Ten and the Ohio Bobcats in the MAC are currently undefeated, with Ohio showing up in the BCS standings for the first time in school history.

The worst states? New York, with Army, Buffalo and Syracuse – so far 5-16, 23.8%. Colorado are right behind, with Air Force, Colorado and Colorado State – 6-15, 28.6%.
