Sergio Aguero opened the scoring, putting Atletico ahead after 66 minutes of soccer in Madrid and more importantly, scoring Atletico first Champions League goal of this campaign. Didier Drogba scored two for Chelsea (82, 88) but Sergio Aguero scored a beautiful free kick to keep one point in the Vicente Calderon in injury time. Chelsea are through despite not winning for the first time in the group stage.
FC Porto also clinched a spot in the knockout stage as the beat APOEL Nicosia 1-0 in Cyprus with Colombian striker Falcao scoring the winner. Chelsea lead the table with 10 points while Porto are one point and place behind them. Atletico (2 points) and APOEL (1 point) will battle for the Europa League spot.
