The list of the ten oldest players beginning the 2012-2013 NBA season has a few certain future hall of fame inductees on it, like Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Ray Allen and Jason Kidd. There are two players over the age of 40, Grant Hill and Kurt Thomas but the most impressive fact is the New York Knicks having four of these players, including Rasheed Wallace coming out of retirement.

Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs – 36

A new entry into the top 10, Tim Duncan will begin his 16th NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs in 2012-2013; The only player among the 15 oldest players in the league to spend his entire career with one team. He enjoyed a pretty good 2011-2012, helping the Spurs reach the conference finals. He’s a 13 time All-Star and two time NBA MVP, with career averages of 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, with 1111 career games behind him.

Andre Miller, Denver Nuggets – 36

Born on March 19, 1976, Miller is entering his 13th NBA season, into his second season of his second tenure with the Denver Nuggets. A backup nowadays, Miller played 27.4 minutes a night last season behind Ty Lawson, averaging 9.7 points and 6.7 assists. The Nuggets are one of five teams he’s played for during his career and his sixth, perhaps last NBA stop. He has played in 1044 games, averaging 14.1 points and 7.2 assists.

Ray Allen, Miami Heat – 37

Allen begins his 17th NBA season with a new team, the Miami Heat, after five years with the Boston Celtics that included winning the NBA title in 2008. The Heat are Allen’s 4th NBA team after playing in Milwaukee, Seattle and Boston. He’s a 10 time NBA All-Star who has played in 1148 regular season games, averaging 20 points per game.

Jerry Stackhouse, Brooklyn Nets – 37

Stackhouse continues to roam around the NBA, beginning what will be his 18th NBA season with the Brooklyn Nets, his 8th stop of his NBA career which has included Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, Dallas, Milwaukee, Miami and Atlanta. He played in only 30 games last season for the Hawks and a total of 89 over the past four seasons. He’s a two time NBA All-Star with 933 regular season games behind him, averaging 17.4 points per game.

Rasheed Wallace, New York Knicks – 38

Rasheed Wallace (born on September 17, 1974) helps the Knicks become the oldest team in the NBA, coming out of a two-year retirement to play for his 6th NBA team and begin his 16th NBA season, last playing for the Celtics in 2010. Wallace is a four time All-Star and an NBA champion from 2004 (Pistons), who has played in 1088 regular season games, averaging 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Marcus Camby, New York Knicks – 38

A return to the Knicks for Camby, who played in New York from 1998 to 2002, reaching the NBA finals with the team. Born on March 22, 1974, Camby spent last season playing for both the Blazers and the Rockets, averaging 4.9 points and 9 rebounds per game. Given the minutes, he’s still a double figure rebound guy and a fantastic shot blocker. He’s a defensive player of the year winner and two time All-defensive first team member with 949 games, averaging 9.7 points and 9.9 rebounds in the regular season.

Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers – 38

Steve Nash joins the third team of his 17 year NBA career. Born on February 7th, 1974, Nash made his 8th All-Star game last season, averaging 12.5 points and 10.7 assists per game, playing 31.6 minutes a night. He’s a five time NBA Assists leader who’ll be part of a rather old starting five for the Lakers, with 3 All-NBA first team selections and two MVP awards. Nash has 1152 regular season games, averaging 14.5 points and 8.6 assists per game.

Jason Kidd, New York Knicks – 39

The third and still not the oldest Knicks player on this team. Kidd played for the Dallas Mavericks over the last four and a half seasons, winning the NBA title in 2011. He had an awful 2011-2012 season, averaging 6.2 points while shooting 36.3% from the field. He’ll be beginning his 19th NBA Season in New York with 10 All-Star games and five All-NBA first team selections behind him. He has played in 1315 regular season games, averaging 13 points, 6.4 rebounds and 9 assists per game.

Grant Hill, Los Angeles Clippers – 40

Hill is missing the top spot by a single day, born on October 5, 1972. Hill will be beginning his 18th NBA season (missed the entire 2003-2004) with a new team, his third of his NBA career after playing for the Suns five straight, mostly healthy seasons. He was still a full time starter last year, playing 28.1 minutes and averaging 10.2 points per game. He has 997 regular season games and averages of 17.1 points and 6 rebounds. He’s a 7 time All-Star and has one NBA first team selection.

Kurt Thomas, New York Knicks – 40

Thomas spent about half of his career with the New York Knicks, playing for them between 1998 and 2005. It was the only time of his career in which he averaged double digit scoring numbers. Born on October 4, 1972, Thomas is entering his 18th NBA season after spending 2011-2012 with the Blazers, averaging 3 points in 15 minutes a night. With 1071 career games, Thomas has averages of 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
