Liverpool Revival? Reds Beat Everton 2-0 in Merseyside Derby

Liverpool put in another unimpressive performance on both sides of the pitch, but it was enough for a third straight league victory in Goodison Park over their city rivals and their first league win, propelling them to fifth, since the 2-0 win over Manchester United over a month ago. Everton lost for the third straight time in the league, remaining win-less at home since September, with Tottenham and Chelsea lined up next, not easy indeed.

Liverpool came to defend, but Joseph Yobo was there for the reds. First, Mascherano’s shot bounced off the Nigerian and found itself in Howard’s net. Reina made a couple of brilliant saves at goal and eventually, after Riera came in for Aurelio, it was again Yobo, mishandling an errant ball, which Riera shot, Howard saved but Kuyt was their to score from the rebound and seal the unimpressive but crucial victory for the reds.

P.S. – Did you notice I didn’t write about Steven Gerrard? Well, lets say, there wasn’t anything good to write about. Liverpool miss Torres and need a playmaker, and it seems Gerrard might be sufferring from the same things.
