Barcelona had more possession (as usual), Real Madrid had more and better chances, both teams had a player sent off (Sergio Busquets from Barca and Diarra from Real), but eventually, one Zlatan Ibrahimovic, six minutes after coming in for Thierry Henry, sealed the fate of the biggest club match in the world, finishing lethally in front of goal off of Dani Alves’ cross, winning it for Barcelona 1-0, their third straight El Clasico victory.
Real had Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Higuain and Raul, and had the better chances, but Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique were fantastic at the center of defense, stopping almost every opportunity los blancos had. Barcelona climb back to the top of the table, as Real lose their second league game of the season but shouldn’t be discouraged, as they weren’t inferior to the home side, and with a healthier and better Ronaldo in the coming weeks, there’s a whole lot of season left in the La Liga.
