New England Patriots – Is Tom Brady a Dirty Player

New England Patriots – Is Tom Brady a Dirty Player

Despite losing in the AFC Championship game, the New England Patriots and especially Tom Brady are getting quite a lot of attention in the following days, for the wrong reasons. You usually hear arrogant and similar descriptions when it comes to Brady, but his high leg slide and hit on Ed Reed has taken him into the “Dirty player” Regions.

You never know if the NFL actually wanted to review the play in which Brady made an ordinary quarterback slide with a slight adjustment, looking to hurt Ed Reed by stretching out his legs with his cleets towards Ed Reed, who was only trying to jump over Brady and avoid tackling him, which was illegal in that situation. Maybe the way it broke out over the internet later on pushed them to this decision.

Reed himself doesn’t seem so distraught over the situation, saying he understands that sometimes players let their emotions and frustrations get the best of them. In any case, Brady already apologized.

We talked actually not too long ago; we talked on the phone. He actually reached out to me, texted me. I tried to text him back, but the message exploded after 12 seconds, so I had to call him … and he just apologized and what not. But I told him, ‘You know, it’s good, man.’

For the most part, I didn’t say anything to him when he said something to me at the game. He was going, ‘You want to play like that, let’s go.’ But, no, Brady’s a great competitor and I love going against him and I know where his heart is at for this game. It was all good.

I respect Brady and his game for all it stands for, and I know he’s not a dirty player. And emotions get going in the game.

Dirty player or not, there’s quite a lot of animosity between these two franchises, which seems to grow with every playoff game over the last few years. The Ravens usually walk around, or at least talk that way, with a feeling that the Patriots might be good, but they get treated too good for what they truly are, not to mention their coach, a cheater that’s been caught red handed, and generally, not the nicest guy in the world.

Bernard Pollard, not one of the favorites among Patriots players and fans, is crossing his fingers hoping Brady gets fined or or something along those lines for his play on Ed Reed. Not just because of the rivalry, but for the equality in calls and reviews when it comes to defense and offense players.

If you want to keep this going in the right direction, everyone should be penalized for their actions. Brady knew what he was doing. It has to go both ways. Hopefully, the NFL will do something about it. If they don’t, that’s fine. If they do, then that’s fine.
