Everton missed out on a brilliant opportunity to avenge their 6-1 home crushing by Arsenal in August, as they lost their lead twice in a game which will probably be remembered for the severe weather conditions that canceled five other matches this Saturday.
Everton didn’t let Arsenal develop their usual passing game, defending high and aggressive. Arsenal were able to come back twice thanks to two deflections. Wenger still has no striker he can depend on, and need Fabregas back as soon as possible. They are now 3 points behind Chelsea, and with Blues’ facing Essien and Drogba-less times and United clearly not dominating as in years before, Arsenal have a fantastic chance to come from behind and win the title. Playing like today won’t be helping their cause. Everton? Should be pleased with the way they played and with Donovan’s debut, providing clever passes and flair to their midfield. If they build on today’s performance, 2010 might be much better than the first half of this season.
