NFL Rumors – Philadelphia Eagles Also Into Darrelle Revis

It’s not hard to figure out that every team with the cap space and draft picks has a very big interest in Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets, who seems to be up for grabs if a team comes up with the right kind of offer, and the Philadelphia Eagles are in the race as well.

Revis isn’t the only secondary option the Eagles are looking into (Dashon Goldson), but he’s on the name of everyone’s lips at the moment when you’re talking about finding a way to improve your secondary, and the Eagles are one of the teams with the cap space to pull the deal off, along with the draft picks the Jets want, and the burning need to get their pass-defense situation upgraded.

Still, despite Revis being widely considered the best corner in the NFL before his injury, there’s the issue of his ACL injury, which happened only six months ago. Why invest $12 million of cap space into a player like that, not to mention the $15-16 million Revis wants for the extension, after the Eagles got badly burned in the deal with Nnamdi Asomugha two years ago, and are considering letting the former all-pro and pro bowler go because of his very disappointing form in 2011 and 2012?

While Asomugha was considered one of the top 4-5 corners in the NFL, he was among peers. When it comes to Revis, everyone feels that when he’s healthy, it’s him, and the rest of the pack chasing him. Revis is younger than Asomugha was when the Eagles signed him in 2011, and he’s pretty much better at every aspect when it comes to defense. According to rumors from within the Eagles organization, general manager Howie Roseman is putting together an offer, as it seems he and many others think Revis is worth the chance, and the money.
