The 2012-2013 season isn’t over yet for Gonzaga, but there’s no reason it’s quite special, winning the WCC regular season title, the tournament title and heading into the NCAA tournament as a #1 seed, with a #1 AP Poll ranking. Oh, and now there’s this awesome Parody video, borrowing from Macklemore’s Thrift Shop.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 31-2 record, and more importantly going 16-0 in the conference, beating Saint Mary’s three times along the way. Yes, they did lose to two ranked opponents this season – Butler (by one point) and Illinois, beating the Zags at home. But there was also the win at Oklahoma State, turning out to be quite a force in the Big 12 this season.
Gonzaga feel like this is the year to set school records, although no one is considering them as favorites to go all the way – we have Indiana, Duke, Louisville, Florida and a handful of other teams in a pretty unpredictable season for that. But Gonzaga have never been past the Sweet Sixteen except for once, in 1999. Making it into the NCAA Tournament for the 15th consecutive time, it’s also time they make it contending season, and last until at least the final 8 in the tournament.
