NFL Rumors – Denver Broncos Close to Signing Terrance Knighton

It’s been quite a while that the Denver Broncos have been following Terrance Knighton, coming off his first four years in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. There isn’t a done deal yet, but it seems Knighton will be playing at defensive tackle in Colorado for the Broncos in 2013.

The easiest connection to make between the two sides is Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator for Denver last season, one of the best pass rushing defenses in the NFL if not the best of them, looking to add someone who can add a little run stuffing to the equation, something Knighton, a big 300 lbs defensive tackle, knows how to do very well.

Denver were excellent against the run as well last season, allowing only 91 yards per game. By re-signing Kelly Vickerson, another defensive tackle who has been with the team, some might thought they’d pass on Knighton, but it seems that despite early rumors, their plans for the 28th pick in the draft won’t be at DT, as Knighton, who recorded 2 sacks and 32 tackles last season, and comes with a total of 7.5 sacks and 140 tackles in his career, will be the man playing next to Vickerson in the middle of the line.
