NFL Rumors – Baltimore Ravens Interested in Elvis Dumervil

After simply being on the losing side of trying to keep players after winning the Super Bowl, it seems the Baltimore Ravens are primed to make at least one impact signing this off-season, intending to make a generous offer to Elvis Dumervil who got released, by mistake, from the Denver Broncos.

While Dumervil himself has said a couple of times that his intention is to return to the Denver Broncos, it’s not quite clear whether the Broncos still want to give their former pass-rusher the $8 million contract he was about to sign and send, with a malfunction, probably on his agent’s side (soon to be fired), collapsed the deal as the papers were sent a few minutes past the deadline.

The Baltimore Ravens, among other teams, are hoping they can step in and fill the void left in Dumervil’s life, who might be looking for a return to the only team he’s played for so far in the NFL, but it doesn’t hurt to look around the market and see just how much he can fetch, as the Broncos might go for cheaper options in John Abraham, Osi Umenyiora or Dwight Freeney to fill the DE position.

On the other hand, after losing Paul Kruger, the Ravens lost Paul Kruger to the Cleveland Browns, and need someone to fill that hole of pass-rushing and sack generating next to Terrell Suggs. While Dumervil has played as a DE in the last couple of seasons, his best and most productive year came in 2009 as an outside linebacker, recording an NFL-best 17 sacks.

The New England Patriots are also chasing after the three-time Pro Bowler, but according to the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are the most eager side to make an impact signing into their 3-4 defense.
