It seems that a lot of teams are interested at this stage of free agency in corners and safeties, two positions Michael Huff, departing the Oakland Raiders, can fill very well. His first choice for new team are the Dallas Cowboys, but they aren’t alone in the chase after the 7 year veteran, as the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens are also in the race.

Huff’s first choice for a team to play for in the next few years (he’s 30) are the Cowboys, having grown up in Irving, Texas, and playing his College Football with the Longhorns obviously makes them a very lucrative option. The problem for the Cowboys is that they still haven’t figured out what to do with Tony Romo and restructuring his contract, and until that happens, they can barely make any moves in free agency, which means Huff has to wait for them to sort these things out.

Huff might want to play for the Cowboys, but he also wants to make sure he has a team and a good contract for next season, which means he isn’t waiting much longer. At least, it’s OK for him to check out some options. The Green Bay Packers had quite a lot of problems over the last couple of seasons in their secondary and did let go of Charles Woodson, who is also a former Raiders player. Huff might fill both the corner and the safety role that Woodson left wide open last season very well.

Another team looking for secondary improvements are the Baltimore Ravens, who let go of Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard and lost Cary Williams. Again, if the money is right, and the Ravens do still have some to spend after signing Dumervil, Huff can fill a number of vacant slots in the starting lineup. While the Packers don’t usually make any moves in free agency, they might make an exception seeing as they have too many needs to fill with just the draft, and quality players quickly falling off the board.
