NFL Rumors – Jacksonville Jaguars Interested in Mohamed Massaquoi

It hasn’t been exactly a dream career for Mohamed Massaquoi since entering the NFL, spending four not-too-impressive seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who probably expected a little bit more from the wide receiver they picked in the second round. After not getting too much interest during the early stages of free agency, it seems the Jacksonville Jaguars, also quite dormant up to this point, might be looking to give him a chance to impress.

While it is hard impressing as a wide receiver for the Jags, who have some serious problems at quarterback and probably every position you can think of except for running back where Maurice Jones-Drew seems to be simply wasting away, a new scenario can always breathe new life to a career of a declining player, despite being only four seasons into this NFL career.

Massaquoi has played four seasons for the Cleveland Browns since coming out of Georgia, catching 118 passes for 1745 yards, catching a total of 7 touchdowns. Last season he played in only 9 games, finishing with a career low 17 receptions, 254 yards and no touchdowns. That really didn’t make it a hard decision for the Browns to not keep him, and let him try and find work with another team.

Now, the Jags are the first to send Massaquoi an invitation visit, although they aren’t the only team still looking for a wide receiver, preferably a veteran with at least some success in the NFL. With Massaquoi being the first player to take a Jacksonville visit this season, it might mean the Jags are a bit more serious than others about retaining his services, knowing it won’t come at too high of a price. Even if a deal doesn’t get worked out, it’s more than likely that Massaquoi finds an NFL team by the time the season begins, gathering enough interest from more than one team.
