NFL Rumors – Atlanta Falcons Might Bring Back John Abraham

John Abraham

Being released by a team does not mean it’s impossible to come back. John Abraham looked a bit too expensive for the Atlanta Falcons at the beginning of the free agency period, but after a period of upgrading for them while Abraham has failed to come to terms with a new team, the option of his return to his former employer of the past seven seasons has come up.

According to Thomas Dimitroff, you can never say never. Just like Tony Gonzalez might be convinced to come back, John Abraham might be making his return as well, possibly lowering his demands a bit to get a job with a team he’s been pretty successful for over the last few seasons, including playoff appearances and getting to the quarterback 68 times in 102 appearances for the Falcons.

Atlanta have made signings when it comes to pass rushing – Osi Umenyiora has recently joined the team, while Kroy Biermann is very capable on the other side of the defensive line. Brian Banks, a linebacker, has also been added to the mix recently. And yet, Umenyiora isn’t going to be an every-down kind of guy, just like no-one has that kind of plan regarding Abraham. If Abraham doesn’t ask for Umenyiora kind of money ($8.5 million for two years), there’s definitely a chance we’ll see some rotation between the two at the right defensive end position for the Falcons in 2013.
