NFL Rumors – Brian Urlacher Between Returning to Chicago Bears and Playing for a Contender

Brian Urlacher

You had to feel a little bit bad for Brian Urlacher after being given an offer that pretty much says “go away” by the Chicago Bears a couple of weeks ago, but there’s still demand for the veteran linebacker, although not close to the money he has been used to get or what he was expecting to be signed for when free agency began.

But there are a few teams interested in Urlacher, who has turned his desire and focus to contenders only, knowing that the $3-3.5 million he was expecting to get from the Bears on a two-year deal isn’t going to come from anyone. The Bears gave him a one-year, $2 million take it or leave it offer, but that doesn’t mean that the door of returning to the only team he’s played for since entering the NFL in 200 is closed.

Urlacher is having talks with a few teams, all playoff teams, but doesn’t seem to be in a rush to get anything signed, despite the NFL draft drawing nearer and nearer. Maybe it’s because he feels there’s still a chance to return and play for Chicago, despite the way they disrespected him (business always feels like a slap in the face when you don’t get your wish), or possibly he’s looking to see how some teams stock up in the draft, and know where to turn his title intentions, being a little bit smarter of where the wind is blowing after everyone make their picks.
