NFL Rumors – Detroit Lions Interested in Draft Dee Milliner

Dee Milliner

Fixing their pass-defense and their pass-rush seems to be the first on the list for the Detroit Lions heading into the 2013 NFL draft, but with the pass-rushing stable looking to be extremely deep in this draft class, the Lions are probably looking to get the best cornerback possible, which means taking Dee Milliner out of Alabama with the fifth pick.

Milliner isn’t the only former Crimson Tide player to pay the Lions a visit, who are also entertaining Chance Warmack, who isn’t very likely to be taken as soon as Milliner in the draft, with most mocks placing him around the 15-10 position, considered as the best guard in this draft class along with Jonathan Cooper.

However, Milliner is a rarer talent, playing three seasons for Alabama, winning two national titles during his Sophomore and Junior seasons, racking up six interceptions, 1.5 sacks and nine tackles for a loss, looking like the only corner to be taken in the first 20 picks of the draft.

Milliner is one of those players who looks like he’ll be able to make an immediate impact for anyone he starts for, which is good news for the Lions, who had a terrible pass-defense over the last couple of years, and despite liking the players they have at cornerback, it’s never wise to pass on a top-flight talent at the position like Milliner, especially when there are plenty of capable, NFL-ready pass-rushers to take a bit later in the draft.
