NFL Rumors – Oakland Raiders Interested in Seneca Wallace

Seneca Wallace

After already making a change or two to their quarterback situation, the Oakland Raiders aren’t done trying to improve the overall depth at the position, making a move to try and sign Seneca Wallace, who has been drawing quite a lot of interest around the NFL lately.

After losing the job as the Seahawks’ backup to Brady Quinn, Wallace, who spent last season as a backup with the Cleveland Browns, moves on to the Raiders, who have brought over Matt Flynn, not to mention Terrelle Pryor as his backup, anxiously waiting for a chance to become a starter in the NFL. Still, Flynn’s experience as a starter is quite limited and the Raiders need some insurance to cover for him, apparently more than what they think Pryor can provide.

Wallace, 32, started 3 games in 2011 for the Browns, losing in all of them. In the NFL since 2003, he’s played mostly for the Seattle Seahawks before leaving to Cleveland for three seasons in which he hasn’t gotten too many chances to prove his worth, and not doing much when those chances did arrive, throwing six touchdowns passes and four interceptions in 14 games (7 starts) with the Browns.

Wallace will work out for a team that hasn’t been to the postseason since 2002, who have been looking for a solid solution at quarterback for over a decade now, not finding it with Carson Palmer. While Matt Flynn might finally be the guy to last more than a couple of seasons at the starting position, the Raiders want to make sure they have adequate players to back him up in case he fails.
