NFL Rumors – What the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Will Have to Give the New York Jets for Darrelle Revis

Darrelle Revis Interception

There’s no way getting round it for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are still after Darrelle Revis, but aren’t sure they want to part ways with their first round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, which is probably a must, according to the New York Jets, in order for the deal to happen.

As of now, the Bucs are willing to send lower picks in this draft (sixth, 7th) plus a first round pick in the 2014 draft, but the Jets, despite having a player who might not show up for training camp, causing problems not for the first time, not to mention losing him after the 2013 season for nothing because they cannot franchise him, are adamant they receive the 13th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Some think that the Revis deal will go down in a similar way to the one that sent Percy Harvin from Minnesota to the Seattle Seahawks. Harvin claimed three draft picks in his departure – the first and seventh round picks in the 2013 NFL draft plus another third round pick in 2014. Something similar is what we might see from the Bucs if they do pull the trigger on bringing in Revis.

One interesting thing regarding the deal is the timetable the Bucs need to operate in. Because of Revis recovering from injury, they’ll probably need a week to examine him after trading for him, and if he doesn’t pass the physicals, it will cancel the trade. This means that with draft day coming closer (April 25), the Buccaneers are going to have and make a decision very soon, unless the Jets pull a 180 and decide to wait until after the draft to shop Revis around again, or maybe even further down the line, when teams can actually see him on the field after he’s recovered from his injury.
