The biggest problem last season for the Chicago Bears? The offensive line, one of the main reasons they missed the postseason thanks to some big offensive struggles. In order to fix the situations, a couple of signings have been made, not to mention going after someone in the draft, but internal modifications are also being made, with Gabe Carimi moving to right guard being the biggest of them.

Carimi has played Guard a bit last season, but he’s mostly been a right tackle over the last couple of seasons. Well, the Bears think that Carimi should do better in the middle of the offensive line, while J’Marcus Webb and Jonathan Scott will battle for the right tackle position. The Bears also added Jermon Bushrod from the New Orleans Saints to be their starting left tackle next season.

It’s not that Carimi isn’t a good tackle, but he’s a better fit for guard than both Webb and Scott, which means the Bears don’t want three players competing for the same position in the offensive line. Carimi will move left, and hopefully, there will be no need to plug him back on the outside unless both Scott and Webb fail at what they do.

It doesn’t mean Chicago aren’t going to use one of their draft picks on an offensive lineman. They’ve held a private workout with former Valdosta State right guard Edmund Kugbila. Kugbila  graded out at 93.8 percent last season in 14 starts, and didn’t give up a single sack in helping his school win the Division II national championship.
