NFL Rumors – Miami Dolphins Getting Closer to Branden Albert

Branden Albert Chiefs

At the moment, it seems the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t going to give left tackle Branden Albert a long term deal and might even move him to the right side of the offensive line. Meanwhile, they’re also looking for a team that will take him, allowing the Miami Dolphins to talk to Albert’s agent, in what hopefully will end up being a trade that will benefit all sides.

A five year veteran, Albert lives off season in Miami, and is likely to visit the Dolphins’ facility in order to undergo a physical, although the Chiefs have not given the Dolphins permission to visit with the player or give him a physical or speak with him directly because the two sides have not made any substantive progress on talks.

In any case, Albert has decided to skip the voluntary offseason program the Chiefs are running, preferring to try and vent his anger through social media about not getting the long term deal he wants (being franchised for $9.8 million) and the murmurs of the potentially upsetting move from left tackle to right tackle. Albert said he isn’t planning on playing at right tackle no matter what.

The Dolphins have a need for a left tackle after Jake Long left and signed with the St. Louis Rams. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are going to try and look for a new left tackle in the draft, probably using their number one pick on Luke Joeckel coming out of Texas A&M.
