NFL Rumors – New York Jets Also Interested in Drafting Dee Milliner

Dee Milliner Tide

After trading away Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there’s a good chance that the New York Jets will be using one of their two first round picks in the 2013 NFL Draft on a cornerback, with only one player, Dee Milliner coming out of Alabama, looking like someone who might fit the bill of such a high pick for that position.

Despite all the doubts regarding Milliner and his health issues, none of the five surgeries he’s had, including a recent one on his shoulder, have been major. In all of his visitsĀ the feedback from teams about his health was ‘great,’ as well as in his Combine medical re-check performed earlier this month. Milliner looked like a top 5 pick before the whole process began, but now there’s a chance he’ll slip a little bit lower, to Jets territory (9 & 13).

Milliner himself wouldn’t mind going to the Jets, especially now that they’ve gotten rid of their number one corner, leaving more room for him to grow.

Iā€™ll be perfectly fine for training camp. I donā€™t know who started that accusation, but I feel fine for the most part.Ā I’m doing good. Iā€™ll start back rehabbing hard after the draft, whatever team chooses me, and Iā€™ll be fine. The Jets like me, but they probably like me more now that they’ve traded away Revis.

The Jets might not be getting a pro bowler in Milliner, especially if he isn’t as fit as the surgeries suggest, but he looks like an immediate starter, and with their needs being all over the place, including at Safety, taking the best player on the board with their first pick, which very well might be the BCS champion, the best cornerback in this draft class.
