Too many injury problems and too high of a salary seemed to be the reason Ahmad Bradshaw was released from the New York Giants in the first place, but after being passed over by other teams for more youthful selections in the NFL draft, there’s a rising suspicion that the often-injured running back will return to the only team he’s ever played for.

Bradshaw, who was mostly used as a kick returner during his first two seasons in the league enjoyed his second best NFL season in 2012, running for 1015 yards and scoring six touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Another surgery and his due salary ($3.75 million) for 2013 made the Giants decide to set him loose upon the open market.

Bradshaw drew some interest from both the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but with both teams adding running backs in the draft (The Packers took Eddie Lacy in the second round, the Steelers picked Le’Veon Bell in the second round as well) it seems his options of finding a team took a severe hit.

The Giants are still interested in him. They took a running back in the seventh round – Michael Cox out of UMass, who ran for 710 yards last season in the MAC, highly very impressive and with a good chance of not making it to the team. Last season’s left overs include the promising Andre Brown (385 yards, 73 carries), David Wilson (358 yards, 71 carries), Da’Rel Scott and Ryan Torain.

Clearly, the Giants need someone they can trust while Brown and Wilson continue to develop. Bradshaw might be looking to be a feature back, but his injury history tells he might not be up to it, with sharing the load alongside Brown and Wilson sounding like a much better idea for the Giants, especially not wanting to pay him like a feature back.

Seeing as how there isn’t a huge need for him at the moment, Bradshaw is likely to take the Giants up on their offer to reunite, with the 27-year old giving them a discount from what he was supposed to earn this season.
