NFL Rumors – San Diego Chargers Interested in Winston Justice

It’s been one long, slow and painful decline for the San Diego Chargers over the last three seasons, despite having what was perceived to be a very talented squad. The number one problem, on the field? The offensive line. While making some additions and adjustments this offseason, the Chargers still need help at left tackle, which might make Winston Justice the best solution left for them.

The Chargers did select D.J. Fluker out of Alabama with their first round pick (11th overall), but the offensive tackle will play on the right side of the O-line, leaving a hole and place for someone to take over on the left.

Winston Justice

For now, it looks like King Dunlap, who has been moved around a lot of positions for the team over the last couple of years, is the man who looks like the favorite to win that starting position, although the Chargers don’t have much faith in him doing the job particularly well.

A player who has already paid visits to a number of teams but is still without a contract is Winston Justice, who played last season with the Indianapolis Colts to lukewarm praises, joining them after a few season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowobys seemed quite interested not too long ago, but at the moment Justice is still looking for someone to take a chance on him.

While not being one of the best in the league at his position, he is probably a better option than anything else the Chargers have at the moment. A visit doesn’t mean a contract, as we’ve seen time and time again, but it does move him closer to the team.

Most likeliest scenario? Justice is too good not to get picked up, but it’ll only be after the June 1 round of cuts, giving certain teams, including the Chargers, a little more cap maneuverability and money to throw at a player they want.
