Transfer Rumors 2013 – Chelsea Will Sign Edinson Cavani & Andre Schurrle

While the most of the footballing world has been busy with international matches, Chelsea are trying to seal the moves they’ve been interested in for quite a while, and if reports from outside of England are true, they’ve managed to secure the signings of both Edinson Cavani from Napoli and Andre Schurrle from Leverkusen.

Cavani, who led the Serie A in scoring this season with 29 goals, has been linked with a number of clubs this summer so far, mostly Real Madrid and Manchester City, but since the arrival of Jose Mourinho and the signing of Falcao by Monaco, Chelsea’s attention has turned into the second “hot” striker of our times, everyone waiting for him to find a bigger team.

While it has been talked about that nothing less than €60 million would be enough to make Napoli sell the player, according to Mediaset in Italy, Chelsea have managed to broker a deal worth €58 million for the Uruguayan striker, who has scored 104 goals in 138 matches during his three seasons in Naples. Despite certain hints at an exchange deal involving Fernando Torres, with Rafa Benitez wanting to reunite with the striker outside of England, this seems to be a straight cash-for-player deal.

On another front, with another forward, it seems Chelsea have finally broken through in their negotiations with Andre Schurrle, a player they’ve been after for over a year.

The 22 year old German, with 24 caps for the national team, enjoyed a fantastic season with 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, leading Leverkusen to a third-place finish and a spot in the Champions League.

Leverkusen wanted to sell Schurrle for the fee of around €20 million, but they were also looking for a deal that will add Kevin de Bruyne to the team, while other teams have also been looking to sign the rising Belgian star. However, that offer never worked out, but according to reports in Germany, the clubs have finally agreed on a deal for Schurrle, and Schurrle alone.
