Undefeated Teams Around Europe Through September 23

We have 14 teams left around the top European leagues who have still avoided a loss this season: Everton in the Premier League; Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Villarreal and Espanyol in La Liga; Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga; Napoli, Roma, Inter, Juventus and Fiorentina in the Serie A; and Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

Espanyol are the only team out of those on the list who still haven’t completed their round of play this week (having to face Athletic Bilbao), so the list might be narrowed down to 13 by the end of the day.

Premier League

Leighton Baines

Two fantastic free kick goals from Leighton Baines and one costly header from Romelu Lukaku brought Everton back from behind twice in their 3-2 win against West Ham, moving them up to sixth in England, with two wins and three draws as it seems their last-minute moves in the transfer window will help keep them just behind the top group this season, which is the most you can expect from the club.

The other undefeated team going into this weekend, Liverpool, lost 0-1 at home to Southampton, dropping to fifth place.

La Liga

Pedro

Five times remain undefeated in Spain, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid also perfect so far with five wins in five matches. Barcelona, leading the league with a +14 goal difference, had no problem beating Rayo Vallecano 4-0 with a hat trick from Pedro and another goal from Cesc Fabregas. Atletico beat Valladolid 2-0 in a tough away match, enjoying goals from Raul Garcia and Diego Costa.

Real Madrid moved up to third, two points behind the leaders, beating Getafe 4-1 at home, getting goals from Ronaldo (x2), Isco and Pepe. Villarreal drew for the second straight week, this time on the road against Celta Vigo, 0-0. Espanyol still have to play Athletic Bilbao.

Bundesliga

Bastian Schweinsteiger

No more perfect teams in Germany, as Borussia Dortmund dropped points for the first time this season. They finished in a 1-1 at Nuremberg, as Marcel Schmelzer’s free kick wasn’t enough to secure the win. Bayern Munich have joined Dortmund at the top of the league with an impressive 4-0 win against Schalke, getting goals from Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Mandzukic, Claudio Pizarro and Franck Ribery. Both teams have a +11 goal difference.

Serie A

Roma vs Lazio Derby

AS Roma moved to the top of the table due to their perfect, four-for-four start this season, beating Lazio 2-0 in the Rome derby with goals from Federico Balzaretti and Adem Ljajic. Napoli are also perfect following their 2-1 win in the San Siro against AC Milan, with Miguel Britos and Gonzalo Higuain getting on the scoresheet.

Inter got the result of the weekend around Europe, beating Sassuolo, a team with 0 points so far, 7-0. Rodrigo Palacio, Saphir Sliti Taider, Ricardo Alvarez, Diego Milito (twice), Esteban Cambiasso and an own goal did the damage.

Juventus had to come back from behind against Verona, but still came up with the 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Fernando Llorente (finally) and Carlos Tevez. Fiorentina won 2-0 at Atlanata, as Matias Fernandez and Giuseppe Rossi scored for La Viola, who like Inter and Juventus have dropped two points this season so far.

Ligue 1

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Status quo remains in France after a 1-1 draw in the derby of the Billionaires. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored for PSG, Falcao scored for Monaco, which means that Monaco remain on top of the league with 14 points (two draws) and PSG are slightly behind with 12 points.
