The “group of death” in the Champions League didn’t look very close, as Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund had no problem manhandling Napoli and Marseille, while Chelsea got their mojo back in Bucharest, Barcelona managed to find one moment of brilliance in order to beat Celtic while Milan needed a late penalty to avoid defeat against Ajax.
Group E
Basel couldn’t follow up on their impressive win in the opening match, being unable to take advantage of Schalke’s poor form. Julian Draxler scored the only goal in a 1-0 win that might help the German side begin a much needed win streak.
If anyone needed any proof that last week’s home loss was a glitch, Chelsea came to Romania and defeats Steaua, maybe the weakest of the sides in the Champions League, with goals from Ramires (twice), Frank Lampard and an own goal from Danijel Georgievski to complete a 4-0.

Arsenal didn’t need much to keep its impressive win streak going, beating a confused Napoli side that were no where near as impressive as they were last week. Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud scored two quick goals in the beginning of the first half to give the Gunners a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Dortmund record their first win in the competition this season, showing the huge difference between themselves and Marseille, beating the French side 3-0; goals came from Robert Lewandowski (twice) and Marco Reus.

Group G
One of the weakest performances we’ve seen in a long time from anyone in the Champions League, as a 10-man Zenit (losing Axel Witsel just before half time) couldn’t do more than 0-0 at home against Austria Wien, which means there’s very little chance of them qualifying.
Atletico Madrid continued with their impressive form, this time against Porto. The Portuguese champions took an early lead through Jackson Martinez, but goals from Diego Godin and Arda Turan made it 2-1, keeping Atletico perfect so far.

Barcelona didn’t fall into the same trap they did last season, taking advantage of Scott Brown being sent off for kicking Neymar (softly, but still kicking) and getting a slim 1-0 win after Cesc Fabregas scored the winner late in the second half.
A dramatic turn of events in Amsterdam, as Ajax score an 90th minute goal as Stefano Denswil converted a corner kick with a nice header, but AC Milan got a lot of help through four minutes of extra time, and a Mario Balotelli penalty to make it 1-1.
