The 2013 College Football season is over a week into 2014 after 35 bowl games in the bowl season, with only one game that actually mattered: Florida State beating Auburn in the BCS National Championship game 34-31, becoming the last team to win the national title under the current format as we say goodbye to the BCS and welcome in the College Football 4-team playoffs.

So what was special about this Bowl season? We saw Alabama continuing its slide at the end of the season, losing to Oklahoma 45-31 in the Sugar Bowl. The same thing happened to Ohio State, missing out on completing the BCS Bowl game sweep like the Sooners managed to do, losing to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

UCF are undoubtedly the shocking story of the season as the AAC team won the conference which included beating Louisville and then taking down Baylor, the Big 12 champions, in the Fiesta Bowl. Louisville, a popular pick to finish undefeated this season, had to settle for a 12-1 season and beating Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Ohio State? More like Michigan State, winning the Big Ten, ruining the national title hopes for the Buckeyes and then beating Stanford in the Rose Bowl, their first since 1987. Oregon were another disappointing Pac-12 during the regular season (2 losses !!!!) but sent Mack Brown into retirement (probably) with a 30-7 win over Texas in the Alamo Bowl.
